ABOUT LOMITAS
This small rural village of cafeteros is located approximately 2 hours Northwest of the major city of Cali within a mountain ridge 5,577 feet above sea level. Approximate population is 550 residents and the average monthly income is $50usd.
It is known for its simplicity, lack of hustle and bustle and small-town way of life. In its luster, Lomitas was filled with farmers who would grow coffee, corn, yuca, plantains, passion fruit, beans and guadua for export to other major cities. In the late 80s and into the 1990's many of the 3rd and 4th generations of the original families opted to go to the big city due to the excessive agricultural taxes imposed.
However, in the last 10 years the population has steadily grown with those same families of farmers coming back to their roots and others from surrounding areas calling it home among the rich soil & loving people.
